Edible Flowers

This infographic was created as an exploration of Gestalt design principles through information design. The assignment allowed complete creative freedom in choosing the subject matter, with the primary objective of organizing research into a visually engaging and easy-to-understand format. I chose to explore edible flowers, highlighting their culinary uses, flavor profiles and nutritional benefits through illustration and thoughtful layout.

Concept

The infographic presents five edible flowers: pansy, hibiscus, nasturtium, peony and zucchini blossom, using a clean, approachable visual style inspired by botanical illustrations. I wanted the design to feel educational while remaining colorful and inviting, encouraging viewers to explore each flower individually while maintaining a cohesive flow throughout the page.

Process

Created entirely in Adobe Illustrator, the infographic combines custom vector illustrations, typography, and layout to guide the reader through the information. Applying Gestalt principles such as proximity, similarity, repetition, alignment, and visual hierarchy helped organize the content into clear, digestible sections. Repeating circular elements, consistent spacing, and a unified color palette create rhythm throughout the composition, while the botanical illustrations add personality without distracting from the educational content.
