Meowgic Munchies

Meowgic Munchies is a fictional cat cereal brand created as a packaging design project focused on developing a complete consumer product from concept to shelf. The assignment challenged students to design an original brand identity, create a mascot, produce a fully realized package, and incorporate an interactive marketing experience that would extend beyond the physical product. Rather than creating another cereal for people, I flipped the concept and designed a whimsical breakfast cereal made specifically for cats.

Branding

The brand centers around Luna, a mischievous wizard cat whose magical powers began after getting into an unusually potent patch of wild catnip. Luna became the foundation of the brand's personality, inspiring the colorful illustrations, playful typography, and fantasy-inspired packaging. I wanted the box to feel energetic and fun while standing out on a crowded store shelf. Bold colors, oversized typography, and cartoon-inspired vector illustrations create a playful visual identity aimed at cat lovers.

Interactive Marketing

The back of the package transforms into a Kitty Bingo game that encourages customers to photograph their cats completing playful activities such as "Loaf Pose," "Zoomies," or "Airplane Ears." Participants would upload their photos through a QR code to earn bingo squares and enter prize drawings, with a grand prize of a custom-built cat scratch house. This feature turns the package into an interactive experience that encourages customer engagement, social media sharing, and long-term brand recognition.

Process

The entire brand was developed from the ground up, including the product concept, naming, mascot design, packaging layout, copywriting, nutrition panel placement, and production ready dieline. The illustrations were created as vector artwork in Adobe Illustrator before being assembled into the final package layout in Adobe InDesign.
